John Hanson (a Moor)  was actually the 1st President of the United States, he served from 1781 – 1782 and he was black. The new country was actually formed on March 1, 1781 with the adoption of The Articles of Confederation. This document was actually proposed on June 11, 1776, but not agreed upon by Congress until November 15, 1777. Maryland refused to sign this document until Virginia and New York ceded their western lands (Maryland was afraid that these states would gain too much power in the new government from such large amounts of land). Brooke Harris loved her job teaching eighth grade at an inner-city charter school in Michigan -- but Brooke says she was fired for teaching her kids about Trayvon Martin, an African-American teen who was recently shot and killed because someone thought he looked suspicious. Brooke's kids had heard about Trayvon, and she saw they wanted to know more in part because they identified with him: "They are young, black and brown kids who walk to the corner store after school every day," Brooke says. "They've been stopped by police because they 'looked like' some kids who did something illegal." Many of Brooke's students wanted to go beyond writing essays and classroom discussions -- they wanted to raise money for Trayvon's family. Each year, close to a million Americans are arrested for possessing marijuana, and many millions more are targeted and searched by police on suspicion of being a marijuana user. It's an incredible waste of limited law enforcement resources, and the experience of being harassed, arrested, and slapped with a criminal record isn't exactly getting rave reviews from anyone either. Heck, even cops are getting sick of this idiocy. I've spent several years teaching the public how to deal with police. I've heard more than my share of horror stories from people who froze up when confronted by the cops and soon found themselves in the back of a squad car. When that happens, chances are it wasn't because they hurt someone, but rather, because they possessed a small amount of marijuana. The Trayvon Martin case is getting even more heated as armed neo-Nazis are reportedly patrolling the streets of Sanford, Fla.-where the black, unarmed teen was shot and killed. A representative for the Detroit-based National Socialist movement told the Miami New Times that his group of roughly 10 to 20 volunteers aren't there to start trouble, but are prepared to protect the "white citizens in the area" in the event of race riots. "Whenever there is one of these racially charged events, Al Sharpton goes wherever blacks need him," Jeff Schoep of the National Socialist Movement told the news organization. "We do similar things. We are a white civil rights organization…We are not the type of white people who are going to be walked all over." Sanford authorities said ealier this week that they have a plan in place in case violence erupts, and they have met with emergency management teams and the federal Department of Justice. Trayvon Martin is not the only black man being denied justice in America; get familiar with Howard Morgan. Morgan, a former policeman for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, was off duty when he was shot 21 times in his back and seven times in his front by four white police officers during a traffic stop. Morgan is alive and has survived to tell his story, which has unfortunately been absent in national media. His wife Rosalind Morgan is outraged by the lack of justice and the media's failure to cover her husband's story. Rosalind Morgan had this to say. "This man is the only man in the world who was shot 28 times and still alive to tell the truth about what happened," "This is crazy. There's been a news blackout. I had to go outside to get someone to help." The four officers involved claim that Morgan fired shots first when they tried to arrest him, which resulted in them unloading 28 shots into his frame.
